Welcome To Plymouth Argaum RFC

dhsob120909_1.jpgWe are a friendly, family-based club located at  Bickleigh Down, Roborough just north of Plymouth. We currently run a 1st XV and occasionally 2nd XV senior mens teams whilst we also have a junior section which has been running since 2003. We are probably the oldest club in Plymouth having being originally formed in 1887. In May 2008 the running of the clubhouse was taken over by Plymouth Argaum Sports & Social Club , it was completely refurbished and is now open every day of the week. This website is regularly updated with match reports and other club news, if you have any feedback or would like to contribute then please email the webmaster or use the forum. If you would like to get in touch with us to join the club as playing or social member, arrange or confirm a fixture or find out some other information then see the contacts page.

Other selected site highlights include the origins of the club and its unusual name , the Centenary History  and the Argaum Archive containing content from the previous incarnations of this site.

Plymouth Argaum are pleased to announce that we are once again participating in the 2009/10 RFU Grand Draw. This is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for the club as we receive 90% from ticket sales as a tax-free donation from the RFU. Tickets only cost £1 each and there are some great prizes. This includes:

  1. £10,000 (donated by Investec)
  2. Two Business Class Air Tickets to Dubai (donated by Emirates)
  3. £1000 (donated by RLF Consultants)
  4. £1000 (donated by Mazar)
  5. A London weekend break for 2 at an Investec Challenge Match in November 2010 (donated by England Rugby Travel)
  6. England Rugby Squad 2009/10 signed jersey
  7. A British Lions 2009 Rugby Ball signed by the entire squad
and many many more prizes.
I have books of tickets which I will be looking for people to sell by mid February at the latest. Please let me know if you can sell a book (there's only 5 in each one) and help the club acheive its goals.

Wanderers 24 DHSOB Wizards 10
Written by Stuart Quarterman
Wednesday, 04 November 2009

The Wanderers kept up their 50% record with a second win of the season over DHSOB's second string.  A game which earmarked club stalwart Andy Critchley's 40th birthday, saw appearances by Phil and Danny Morgan, along with Paul Critchley to spice things up in the backs.  Also playing for the first time this season were Eroy Alexis and new signing Tony Crouch.

The Wizards reportedly had the edge in the scrum, but had little answer for the speed that the Wanderers back-line boasted.  Tries from Eroy Alexis, Phil Morgan, Mark Hunt (Who's son, Mike is enjoying a bit of a Hunt family rennaisance in the 1st XV) and Andy Critchley himself completed the Try scoring.  Aaron Hart converted two of his 'Tries' at goal.

This fixture and result meant even more to the club, due to the multitude of injuries and unavailabilities this week were still able to field 2 sides and notch up another win for the seconds.
