A glorious day in Cornwall saw 2 determined sides battling each other for territory in a very well contested game. Plymouth Argaum started off the scoring with some determined running by the captain Carl Turner through the middle of the pitch and were rewarded a try converted by Alex Coutts. Unfortunately Turner was then forced to go off due to illness.
This situation found Plymouth struggling to dominate and giving up territory far too easy, although on the break they were again able to score a try from winger Ben Jones, Coutts again converting. Argaum then switched off and allowed the home team the advantage of running into the corner to secure a good try. Argaum then kicked to Lankelly who immediately counter-attacked with fantastic continuity to again score a try in the corner leaving the score 10 - 14 to Argaum at the break.
A strong and determined effort from both teams saw to it that the
second half would be a memorable affair. Lankelly persistently ran
across field with renewed effort and if it was not for Tom Turner on
the right wing and his valiant last-ditch tackling Lankelly would
easily have notched up more tries. Lankelly now facing up hill renewed
their effort and were rewarded with 2 tries. Argaum now had to push
them back and after 2 tries being held up they were rewarded with a
blind side try from No.8 Dan Bolt who powered through to score. It was
5 minutes later after some highly contested rummaging and scrums that
Plymouth found themselves in exactly the same position and Dan Bolt
found it in himself to do exactly the same again.
The final 2 minutes was a nail biting affair with Argaum holding on and
under immense pressure although wing Tom Turner was injured in the last
play with a suspected dislocated knee. The coaches and players all wish
him a speedy recovery. In what has been a difficult season for the
Under 15s they displayed great character and determination, and no
little skill, and can be rightly proud of themselves.
