These two local rivals served up a thrilling contest to warm up the Try scorer Liam Quick spectators on a bitterly cold but sunny morning at Bickleigh Down. The home side, with some confidence after winning their last outing at Lankelly-Fowey started brightly up the hill and opened the scoring when prop Liam Quick powered his way over from a tap penalty. Saltash played with a lot of width in their game and used their speedy backs to great effect to allow Doug Shirley to go over for the equalising try. Argaum's defence held up firm to further Saltash attacks and on the stroke of half time captain Carl Turner put his side back in the lead after good forward continuity and Alex Coutts converted to make the interval score 12-5 to the hosts.

The forward battle Playing down the hill in the second half Argaum would have hoped to contain their Cornish visitors but despite good pressure it was Ashes who broke away with telling effect and good support play. This produced a try for Rob Cockburn and two further scores for Shirley, one of which was converted by Cockburn. Argaum weren't to be denied though and thoroughly deserved the final score of the game after concerted pressure in their opponents 22 allowed young Lewis harmer to cross for his first ever try. Coutts again converted to put a fair reflection on an even match whose result was in the balance for the majority of the time.
After Match Tunnel Argaum will be pleased that the hard work of the coaches and players in training and tremendous spirit is starting to bring its rewards. Hopefull this can continue in the season's remaining encounters.
