Contributions From Nick Hancock
Argaum Coach, Dave Sansom counted over 30 players unavailable this weekend and was further struck with the news that stalwart, Stuart Quarterman had been hit with illness on the morning of the game.
Despite this mass unavailability, Argaum still managed to get two sides out this weekend as the Wanderers defeated DHSOB 41-0.
For the Chiefs though, in came Dan Evans and Dan Higgs along with newcomers Peter Harries and Luke Warrington. Youngster Ben Thomas stepped up from the 2nds.
It was a physical fast game with the first half deadlock being broken close to half time when Dan James, playing hooker, took the ball on the 10m and crashed through a committed tackle to emerge with the ball to break through a couple of other attempted tackles to put the ball down over the line.
The second half saw the Argaum forwards start to dominate at the set piece with the lineouts working particularly well in both attack and defence. This pressure saw Marjons drop the ball that was quickly picked up by Luke Kenny to nip past several players to score under the post.
Against 3rd try came from a set piece move at the scrum where Nick Hancock was dominant at Tighthead and Will Cox crossed the try line diving in the corner. There was some debate on whether he was in touch as the flag was hit but the ref consulted the touch judge and the try was awarded.
Marjons to there credit came back strong and had Argaum pinned in their 22m for the last 10 minutes of the game but the Argaum defence held strong.
Paul Ansell provided two conversions to allow argaum to win 19-0 and keep another clean sheet.
The Chiefs will return to League action when they travel to Ilfracombe in a bid to stay top of the table, where they currently sit.
