Rearrangements were made for this 1st XV friendly, as Salcombe had a large amount of their squad at a wedding. With this, Argaum cancelled their Wanderers game, Rested half of last weeks squad and took a large selection of 2nd XV players out of courtesy to their hosts.
Preparations were hindered as Coach Sansom along with a large contingent of the squad were trapped in country lanes en-route to the ground following a serious accident.
When things eventually got started, Argaum Hit the ground running. Ellery Jones scored early on and by half time, Argaum were leading 26-0 with further tries from Jake Turfrey, Daniel James and Kal Bloomfield. Paul Ansell slotting three conversions.
Changes were made after the break, with Sansom keen to see youngsters Dan Bolt and Tom Cole after impressing for the Wanderers. The backs were moved around and asked to experiment. Skipper Tom Richards reverting to his boyhood position on the flank.
Mason Edwards, Ellery Jones and James Riley scored in the second half, Ansell potting another two conversions. Salcombe capped off the game with their second try at the death.
Perhaps the talking point of the game was the NFL inspired try from the Crabs, where their player leaped over the breakdown to be awarded the try.
A usefull exercise with a large injury list and other walking wounded rested. Next week, the Chiefs host Wessex in the league.
