In-form Riversides prove to be tough opposition.

DoR Dave Sansom rang the changes for this Devon Junior Plate final match. The 'round-robin' final between Dartmouth, Buckfastleigh and ourselves has given Sansom opportunity to look at players in the Wanderers' squad.

Recent impressive performances from the second string made this an easy task. In came Tom Coles, Courtney Richards and Nick Hancock. Aaron Anderson-Smith returned after unavailability and John Ireland and George Seymour made their Debuts for the Chiefs having impressed in the last few Wanderers games. Perhaps most welcome, was the return of winger Ieuan Evans, who has been out injured for 15 months.

It didn't take long for Evans to highlight his return when he opened the scoring with his first touch after ten minutes. Dan James added a second on 17 minutes with a fine line break, finding the angle and crashing over. The Riversiders restarted for Anderson-Smith to crash the ball back up field. Eventually, Anderson-Smith popped the ball to Ireland who scored on his debut. Jake Turfrey made it 17-0 with the conversion.

A shell-shocked Dartmouth regrouped and started to steady the ship. It took a great piece of skill from Turfrey to set James up for his second try before half time. Turfrey slotted his third conversion. Again, Dartmouth rallied and managed to get on the score sheet on the bring of half time with a fine team score. 26-5 at the break.

Sansom made more changes and tried some different combinations in the second period, which saw Paul Ansell stand in at scrum half and Seymour in the centres. Mason Edwards reverted to his schoolboy position at hooker.

The highlight of a scrappy second half was Turfrey's score. Great handling and support around the field by the Chiefs, ended with Turfrey popping over. Again, the conversion successful. Dartmouth concluded the scoring with a well worked forwards try.

Another win in this 'Final' sees Argaum step closer to their first silverware of the season. Early April brings a visit from Buckfastleigh and an away trip to Dartmouth to determine who wins the Devon Junior Plate.
