Tiverton Have Cutting Edge
By Stuart Quarterman
Chiefs dominate possession, but lose to good Tiverton side.
Following the Wanderers fantastic performance last week against Tamar Saracens, Dave Sansom promoted most of the side to the Chiefs in what was going to be a tough cup tie against Western Counties side Tiverton.
Back into the fold came Ben Glanfield at nine, who impressed in the league covering for Ellery Jones. Dave Shepherd and Nick Hancock were back in.
Sansom also had a good look at Nick Carter, Dan Sergent, Joe Staniforth, Callum Mills and Ryan Phillips. Underwood was in for Turfrey at the back and Ciaran Bennett made a welcome return in the midfield after over a year out of the game. In all, there were 12 changes from last week's Chiefs match squad.
The players certainly gave Sansom something to think about. The team came off the field disappointed with the score as they had dominated possession and territory for large periods of the game, without capitalising.
Dan Smith was Argaum's only try scorer, with a powerful finish. The difference between the sides seemed to be the ability to soak up pressure and Tiverton took their chances out wide.
All in all though, Sansom will be happy with the individual performances of most of his players. Despite the obvious disappointment after the final whistle, a generally good all round performance.
