Patient Chiefs Go Through The Gears

Argaum need just 1 more point to secure promotion to Devon 1.

Without Luke Kenny, Karl Sullivan and Kevin Sidebottom (all suffering injuries last Saturday) the Chiefs started tentatively and found the Old Boys to be a lot more adept than in previous recent encounters.

The Devonport side's pack fronted up and with a very competent 9,10 &15 unit, it took the league leaders until the 22nd minute to score. Mason Edwards, playing as hooker ran blind at a ruck ten meters out to power over.

On the stroke of half time, Ben Glanfield was taken off with what looked to be a serious injury. Replaced by Kal Bloomfield and a complete reshuffle of 6 he back line. A fine phase of passing saw this move pay off when it ended in Bloomfield scoring with his first touch. That after a superb individual try from Dan James and Jake Turfrey's first of a brace taking him to 25 for the season.

Securing the bonus point by half time meant that the second half was played with more freedom.

Tom Underwood bagged a brace and Bloomfield added to his first half effort. Substitute, Stuart Quarterman scored from off the back of a great scrum.

By the end of the game, the gulf in class was apparent, but DHSOB should be proud of their 1st half performance.

Next week, Ilfracombe visit Bickleigh Down in a game where Argaum should be able to seal promotion.
