Tigers maul Ilfracombe in seven try rout.

Argaum started the day needing just one point to secure promotion after last week''s miscalculation saw premature celebrations.

Glorious sunshine bathed over a perfect Bickleigh Down pitch and the view over to Shaugh Prior seemed yet again the perfect back drop for a special day.

Ilfracombe seemed determined from the start, disruptive at the breakdown, but a fantastic solo try from try machine Jake Turfrey put the Chiefs in an early lead.

At times, the North Devon side belied their lowly league position and competed well in the scrum and rucks. Argaum didn't help their cause when Jamie Venner was binned for a tip tackle and moments before he returned, Tom Richards, after s Pring his first try was binned for a late tackle.

Argaum continued to toil and played at times too much individual rugby. The game shook into life when Dan Smith ran hard at the opposition lock, putting him into next week somewhere. Typical of the character 'Coombe were showing, he got up and carried on.

A serious half time brief was undertaken and failings were addressed. James Riley came off for Isaac Honey in what looks like a season ending injury.

Big Kevin Anderson secured promotion with the bonus point winning try. A ferocious break from the back of the scrum saw him slam the ball on the visitors try line.

The momentum of the game started to swing and Argaum sorted out Their game and picked up the pace. Further scores came from James, Richards and Ansell for whom it was a less prolific day with the boot.

After the game, the Chiefs celebrated promotion, not knowing the other results. It wasn't till later in the evening that the scoreline from the North Tawton v Torrington game was published which meant that Plymouth Argaum are Devon Two Champions.

Celebrations will be curbed though as there are still four or five big games to come, starting next Saturday at home to Saltash 2nds in the Semi-Final of the Lockie Cup.
