The pitch passed inspection at 0900 hrs and to many people's surprise, the game is on.
OPMs arrived with their Nomads in an eagerly awaited Ellis Cup quarter final and we're greeted by a large and vociferous crowd at Bickleigh Down.
Early pressure saw the Wanderers slot a penalty, courtesy of Dan Sargent. After the Nomads had replied, captain Darren Ford went off with a calf injury, for his replacement, Dan Smith (on his return form a 2 month lay off) made an immediate impact barging over the line.
OPM took the lead with a well worked try before the break to switch around in the lead.
The pitch, getting heavier started to play it's role with the ball becoming increasingly difficult handle. Dan Evans' strong running forced numerous scrums, where superb scrummaging by tight head Dave Rawles and immense power from Dave Shepherd in the engine room powered over the Nomads' pack.
With 2 men in the bin, OPM held strong, but it was a superb run from Argaum's full back from a wayward clearance that saw the winning try.
Again, Argaum made hard work of the last ten when panic seemed to set in and the ball was too often kicked unnecessarily from hand.
The visitors piled more pressure on and were camped in Argaum's 22 at the end. Scrum half, Paddy Lannin managed to win the ball at the base of a ruck and the ball went out to book a semi final against Uni of Plymouth Spartans.
Great performance guys.
