
Please join us in Welcoming Martin 'H' Hendy into the role of Senior Men's Head Coach.
Having started his rugby journey in the minis, junior, and colts sections at Helston RFC, H has dedicated more than three decades to the game as both a player and coach.
After joining the British Army in 1996, he spent 30 years playing for a variety of military and civilian teams, representing the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) in both rugby union and rugby league. His distinguished playing career also included two seasons with the Army Masters, where he helped secure victory in the Inter Services Championship.
Transitioning into coaching, he successfully led the RLC Ladies Rugby Team to a Corps Final and served as Player-Coach for 25 Training Support Regiment, achieving success across multiple military rugby competitions.
His rugby career has also taken him around the world, participating in tours to United States, Canada, Cyprus, and Flanders.
Known for his dedication, commitment, and passion for player development, H is a coach who believes success is built on strong values, hard work, respect, and enjoyment of the game. He is committed to creating a positive rugby culture where players can thrive both on and off the field, while fostering pride, discipline, and a genuine love for rugby.
On the appointment Martin said, "I'm honoured and excited to take on the role of Head Coach. Rugby has given me incredible experiences throughout my playing and coaching career, and I'm looking forward to bringing that knowledge and passion to the club. My focus will be on building a strong culture, developing players, and creating an environment where hard work, respect, and enjoyment go hand in hand. Together, we'll work to make our players, supporters,and community proud."
Martin takes over the role from Dean Avery who held the position for four seasons and who the club would like to publicly thank for his tremendous service.
