On a widswept and soggy day at Bickleigh Down, Argaum took on Saltash 2's in the Lockie Cup. Argaum looking to recover from 2 defeats to OPM's and a Plymouth Combination over the christmas period started brightly with some good flowing rugby and steady scrummaging saw them very much camped in the Saltash half.
Argaum's first chance for points came with a penalty from Tom Richards which sailed past the uprights, sadly the wrong side. Another penalty from Turfrey sailed agonizingly wide and many could not be blamed for thinking this was not Argaum's day. It was 5 minutes before half time before Argaum broke the deadlock with some quick thinking at the Penalty from Ben Glanfield saw Mason Edwards cross the whitewash in his first start in the league back from injury.
The second half was much more evenly contested with Saltash playing some good attacking rugby, but the Argaum defence held fast. A moment of ill discipline at the ruck saw Saltash put 3 points on the board through their 10. Some strong running from the forwards, Dan Smith and Edwards in particular and good back up play from the ever impressive backs saw Argaum come close to the Saltash lines but it was not to be. Another Penalty attempt from Richards was missed but the try proved to be enough.
The win see's Argaum into the semi-finals of the Lockie Cup to face Devonport Services 2's.
