Argaum went to Cornwall's party town, not knowing what to expect from a Newquay side that had a stunning season in Cornwall One last year.
What was evident was that despite not winning yet, three losing bonus points pointed toward a decent team.
Argaum quickly shook the travel out of their legs with Jamie Burton going over for the first score. A bruising encounter unravelled afterward and it wasn't until Courtney Richards took everyone by surprise and chose not to use the 2 man overlap outside him to step in and finish under the posts from outside the 22.
Argaum went in 3 tries up at the break after Mason Edwards went in in the corner.
The second half started brightly and it looked as if Ellery Jones a snuck in for the fourth, only for the referee to disallow the score as a Newquay player had sustained an injury at the breakdown. Jones will be rightly disappointed as play had carried. Coupled with him being stopped by a superb last gasp ankle tap in the previous play.
When the game was restarted, Kal Bloomfield continued his good form and scored with a delightful chip and chase out on the wing. Another product of the Argaum Tigers Youth section, blossoming into a fine player.
With the game won and the bonus point in the bag, it was Jones who finally got the try he deserved. Quick thinking, coupled with a fine run saw him dot under the posts. Tom Richards adding the extras.
Sansom was happy with the 5 points and the clean sheet in Argaum's first visit to Newquay in many years. The Chiefs defended resolutely when called upon and there were two tries disallowed which baffled both Argaum and Newquay supporters alike.
