Plym Vic dig in as Argaum score half century in an error strewn game at St Boniface Arena

Blazing sunshine greeted both teams in Plympton as the home side aimed to prove their last result was a one off, whilst the Chiefs were looking for a bonus point at least. First start of the season for Kevin Anderson saw him barnstorm his way down the touchline after just 3 minutes, following some impressive play from the three-quarters. Tom Richards converted the extras. Minutes later, a Mis-guided switch on the Argaum line, saw the ball fall to the floor, for the Plympton nine to walk over for the points. Perhaps nerves had gotten the better of the young Argaum side and it took until 25 minutes for centre Dan James to burst through not long after a converted penalty to make it 7-15. Just before the break the much appreciated and considerably large Argaum following were treated to an absolute delight of a try from Ieuan Evans , who on his own 10 meter line, cut in off his left wing to the midfield and danced around the Plym Vic team, to find space and surge 40 meters to score under the posts. The first half was littered with errors with a large amount of turnover ball from both teams, but Plympton will have been pleased with themselves for dictating that a large amount of play was in the Argaum half and Argaum really struggled to find any rhythm.

After a surprisingly calm half time review by coach Dave Sansom, the chiefs started strongly. A powerful run from Dan Smith from a penalty move saw 3 opponents on the deck as the ball was grounded to secure the bonus point. Almost from the restart, fullback Jake Turfrey collected a highball and a cheeky chip and chase saw a favourable bounce and it was Turfrey's time to cash in. Much like after the poor start in the first half, the home sides heads never dropped and their persistence prevailed when their centre evaded three tackles to surge under the posts for a second Plympton try. Argaum continued to frustrate their following as at times they looked masterful, dominating lineouts and winning scrums against the head, only to go on and knock on or concede needless penalties. This, coupled with Plympton's never say die attitude which saved a number of scores, meant that the team in green had to rely on acts of individual excellence. Ever impressive Karl Sullivan, marked the hour with his first points of the season after popping up yet again to collect loose ball and cross. Turfrey and Mason Edwards crossed late in the game, with Turfrey taking the last conversion leaving him with 12 points and Richards with 13 for the match.
